Council Call for Suitable Building Land
Forest of Dean District Council is inviting suggestions on where land in the district could be used for housing & employment uses, as it carries out its annual call for possible sites.
The study assists the Council in identifying suitable land in order to meet the community’s future housing needs. The aim of the assessment is to identify as many sites as possible that have the potential to accommodate all types of housing & employment uses (including travellers and travelling show people) across the Forest of Dean District.
We are appealing for interested people, organisations, agents and/or land owners to inform us of any sites that they consider to be developable and would like to bring to our attention.
It is important to consider, despite the assessment forming an important evidence source that the assessment does NOT determine whether a site should be allocated for future housing or employment. Currently, the Forest of Dean district is addressing the supply of land through the examination of its allocations plan and any additional sites that come forward may be considered on a long-term basis and retained within the Council’s records for future use.
If anyone would like to put forward a site(s) that is considered to have development potential, they can download a form from the Forest of Dean District Councils web site, at https://www.fdean.gov.uk/shlaa
If you wish your site(s) to be considered for this year’s round, please return forms of potential sites by 25th April 2021 to [email protected], or mail to:

High Street, Coleford, GL16 8HG
If you have already informed us of a site(s) that was considered either through previous SHELAA studies or the recent Local Plan Issues and Options exercise, then you do not need to re-submit it, unless you wish to make changes to the site(s) (for example, extend, make smaller, or remove it altogether from the study).
All sites previously notified will be regarded as still available unless modified. Furthermore, any site submitted as part of the Local Plan process will also be taken into account. SHELAA sites submitted will be taken into account in the review of the Local Plan.
All the site information supplied for the assessment will be publicly available through Council’s website.
