Council invite community groups to apply for funding

Forest of Dean District Council are offering not for profit voluntary and community groups the opportunity to apply for funding to help build stronger and cohesive communities across the district.

Cabinet member for Communities, Cllr Paul Hiett said:

“We want Forest of Dean residents and communities to thrive post pandemic and this funding will help to ensure that can happen.

“We encourage groups working within their local communities who help to provide projects that support and empower residents to apply using the details provided, or to get in touch with our Communities Team at the Forest of Dean District Council who can offer assistance.

“I’d like to thank all the officers and staff who are involved in helping in our Forest of Dean communities and look forward to seeing more great work being delivered across the district.”

The Community Grants Fund is aimed at building capacity of the community rather than directly delivering services and will focus on projects that are trying to reinstate community activity which was available pre-pandemic. This includes projects that help to improve residents health and wellbeing, reduce social isolation and to community projects that enable residents to reduce carbon emissions and those that respond to Sustainable Community Food.

The funding available to groups for 2022/2023 is £19,800 with one-off revenue grants of up to £3,000 available for constituted groups and one-off grants of up to £500 available for non-constituted groups.

Community Delivery Lead at Forest of Dean District Council, Lena Maller said:

“We want to help groups across the Forest of Dean who are trying to reinstate community-led activities post-pandemic and this funding can assist with that.

“The Community Grants Fund will help local groups to deliver projects that directly benefit residents across the Forest of Dean and we welcome applications from all who are interested.

“Should anyone have any questions about their suitability for funding, please see the link provided or get in contact via phone or email and I’ll be happy to assist.”

The deadline to apply for funding applications is at 5pm on Friday 29th July 2022.
