Council Leader comments on Tier 2 announcement
“The more we can minimise contact with others, even though that is going to be really hard, especially at this time of year – the sooner we will nail this wretched virus and get back everything to normal in 2021.”
Reacting to the news that Gloucestershire is to remain in Tier 2, Forest of Dean District Council Leader, Cllr Tim Gwilliam, said:
“Obviously, it is a good sign that we are staying in Tier 2, which shows the government and the NHS believe the situation across Gloucestershire is manageable. Clearly, we are not through this yet and I am asking for regular updates so that we can stand ready to do anything to help if the situation changes.
“For now, the advice to the people in the Forest of Dean remains the same. Please follow the public health guidelines and keep yourselves and your loved ones as safe as possible so we can get the number of infections down and protect our NHS.”
He added: “I am sure that the Forest of Dean people will use that "Forest of Dean nous” or common sense over the Christmas break. No community can unify like the Forest community when it is time for a fight. Let’s do that now while enjoying a sensible Christmas.
