More affordable homes at Merlin Gate in Newent
Forest of Dean District Council has helped deliver a further seven new affordable homes at the new Merlin Gate residential development in Newent adding to seven delivered in December.
Located in Newent, Merlin Gate is a mixed residential development which will see 230 new homes upon completion developed by David Wilson Homes. Of the 230 homes, 40% of them (92) will be delivered as affordable housing.
Cabinet Member for Housing, Cllr Claire Vaughan, said,
“With the affordable homes delivered at Coleford as well as the ongoing delivery of homes at this development in Newent, 2022 is already shaping up to be a promising year.
“For any of our residents interested in affordable housing for rent, we advise you to register with Homeseeker Plus. Similarly, if you are interested in shared ownership, you can register with Help to Buy Agent 3.”
Of the 92 affordable homes, 64 will become affordable homes for rent, ranging from one-bed flats through to a large five-bed family home. The remaining 28 homes will be shared ownership homes comprising of two and three-bed houses, to help people make their first steps onto the housing ladder.
The Merlin Gate development is expected to reach completion in 2024/25.
