New energy saving initiative could help homeowners to make significant savings in the Forest of Dean
Homeowners across the Forest of Dean are being encouraged to access a new service which could help them make their homes more energy efficient and make savings of around £1,800 per year on their energy bills.
The Forest of Dean is one of six councils across Gloucestershire to have partnered with home energy experts Furbnow, to help homeowners cut costs, reduce carbon emissions, and navigate the process of upgrading their homes.
The home energy improvement scheme is designed to make saving energy at home simpler than ever by offering a one stop shop for home energy efficiency upgrades, such as energy-efficient windows and doors, improved insulation, heat pumps, solar panels, and enhanced ventilation systems. These improvements work together to keep homes warm in winter and cooler in summer, while reducing energy consumption and carbon emissions.
Cabinet Member for Climate Emergency, Cllr Chris McFarling said:
“This fantastic new innovative service offers homeowners expert guidance and helps to simplify the often-daunting process of undertaking home energy improvements.
“By making these energy efficiency changes homeowners can not only save money on their energy bills, but also help to reduce carbon emissions, making their homes greener and more efficient year-round.
“The initiative will also create local jobs and support local businesses carrying out the work, strengthening our economy.
“Forest of Dean District Council is passionate about becoming carbon neutral by 2030, and this new service will help us to deliver a greener, more sustainable future for everyone across the district.”
The initiative offers expert guidance and a complete solution for planning and delivering energy efficiency projects, from initial survey through to installation. Homeowners can expect professional surveys, tailored advice, access to vetted installers, and end-to-end project management.
Furbnow CEO Becky Lane said:
“Many homeowners want to make their homes more energy efficient but find the process overwhelming. Our partnership with Gloucestershire’s councils allows us to provide residents with independent, expert guidance and trusted installers, making home energy improvements accessible and stress-free.
“We’re excited to help Gloucestershire residents create warmer, more environmentally friendly homes while potentially saving up to half off their annual energy bills.”
The initiative supports Gloucestershire’s commitment to reducing carbon emissions and improving housing energy efficiency across the county. Homeowners can access the service through the Forest of Dean website or directly through Furbnow.
