Statement from our leader on the latest Covid-19 restrictions.
Forest of Dean District Council leader Cllr Tim Gwilliam's message to visitors to the district.
"Compared to many areas the Forest of Dean has been fortunate that Covid 19 infections have remained relatively low. That said, we have suffered our share of pain, heartache and loss.
We know how many people love visiting this wonderful place that we are fortunate to call home. Our businesses and our communities welcome you to enjoy our open spaces and our wildlife, and we truly value you as visitors and friends of the Dean.
However, I like to think friends can ask things of each other and we have a request for you.
If you live in an area of England, or across the border in Wales, where infection rates are high, please postpone any non-essential trips to the Forest of Dean. Please adhere to the advice of the UK and Welsh Governments. Our close neighbours in Monmouthshire are thankfully not under any extra restrictions and travel between the Forest and Monmouthshire remains open.
Help us keep our vulnerable safe , play your part in protecting the Forest and please stay away if you live in a high risk area. We promise to welcome you back with open arms when we can."
