Forest of Dean District Council will pick up real Christmas trees from all households following this year’s festive celebrations as it urges residents to reduce waste over Christmas and New Year and make the most of their kerbside recycling services.

Forest of Dean District Council has launched the Community Food Support Grant; a one-off £10,000 fund available during the winter of 2022/23. It aims to help community groups initiate projects that tackle the cost of living crisis through a range of food initiatives including lunch and supper clubs.

Forest of Dean District Council is delighted to announce that it has agreed to purchase the Pyart Court Shopping Centre, a prominent and important commercial centre in the heart of Coleford. 

Residents and businesses across the Forest of Dean are being asked to give their views on the District Council’s spending plans as it prepares its budget for the next financial year, with a consultation beginning 23rd December 2022 and running until 20th January 2023.

Forest of Dean District Council is working with partners and local organisations to provide over £340,000 in funding, as well as delivering essential supplies and advice to residents, communities and businesses to help with the cost of living crisis.

Forest of Dean District Council has today written to 2097 households across the district to inform them the Council will be providing additional financial support to them to help with the rising costs of energy bills.

Members of Forest of Dean District Council and partners from the Centre for Sustainable Energy in Bristol will host a community drop-in event at Oxenhall Parish Hall on Thursday 1st December between 3pm-7pm to discuss community owned solar projects, as well as providing wider information on energy usage and saving.

The redevelopment of Lydney Harbour has seen Forest of Dean District Council win a Campaign to Protect Rural England (CPRE) Award, for their work in protecting and regenerating the area and the contribution this has made to the County.

The resurfacing of Harbour Road largely rounds off the regeneration of Lydney Harbour, which has seen the transformation of the historic harbourfront; including the installation of a visitor hub, café and public artworks display.   

Forest of Dean District Council has reinforced its commitment in working with partner agencies such as Gloucestershire Police and Fire, as well as members of the local community to reduce crime, anti-social behaviour and the fear of crime within the Forest of Dean.

Forest of Dean District Council’s Street Wardens have been awarded a Gold Footprint RSPCA PawPrints award for their work dealing with stray dogs.

Following a rise in the number of incidents of motorists mounting pavements to get around stationary and slow-moving waste collection vehicles, the Forest of Dean District Council and waste contractor, Biffa, are asking road users to be extra vigilant around waste crews at work - and to only pass when it is safe to do so.
