A new art trail has recently been completed at Lydney Harbour, a nationally important Scheduled Ancient Monument on the River Severn at Lydney, Gloucestershire.

Organisations which help to improve residents’ health and wellbeing, provide key advice services, support isolated elderly people and young people not in education or employment are among a number of Forest of Dean groups set to receive a share of a £140,000 funding boost over the next year.

Forest of Dean District Council are offering not for profit voluntary and community groups the opportunity to apply for funding to help build stronger and cohesive communities across the district.

Two Rivers, a registered provider partner of Forest of Dean District Council, received hand-over of fourteen new affordable homes in March and April. The homes consist of twelve one-bedroom flats for social rent and two three-bed shared ownership homes at Mirum Park.

Forest of Dean District Council has approved recommendations to progress with the next phase of considering the Forest of Dean as a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. The decision comes after a public survey found that more than 90% of respondents said that the three main aims of biospheres are important to them; conservation, a sustainable economy and promoting learning and education about the local environment.

More than 200 park homes in Gloucestershire and South Gloucestershire, including 33 in the Forest of Dean, have received new external wall insulation to make them more energy efficient, helping lower the running costs for residents living there.

Forest of Dean District Council has helped to provide 227 new affordable homes for local residents between April 2021 and March 2022.
