Households in council tax bands A-D will soon be eligible to receive a non-repayable £150 Council Tax Rebate from the Government to help households with rising energy bills.

Over forty households facing homelessness have been assisted to stay in their homes as a result of early intervention and support from Forest of Dean District Council, including 22 families in the last 12 months.

A Forest of Dean resident, Jeremy Awdry was sentenced in February 2021 for offences in relation to animal welfare and the breeding of dogs without a licence. Mr Awdry pleaded guilty to the offences at a Crown Court hearing. He received a suspended sentence, an indefinite ban on keeping dogs, and was placed on a tag for 6 months with a curfew order of 7pm to 7am.

Forest of Dean District Council has been allocated over £123,000 for the Household Support Fund to help families and individuals who may be struggling this winter.
