The Forest of Dean District Council’s Cabinet has been unanimous in approving a new climate change strategy and action plan, which sets out how the Council will deliver against its corporate priority to ‘protect and enhance the local environment and address the climate emergency’ as it strives to make the district net-zero ahead of central Government targets.

New directory for remote workers could boost local business this winter

Town centre and village based businesses in the Forest of Dean are being invited to sign up for inclusion in a new Remote Forest Directory. The directory, which is due to be launched before the end of the year, will include businesses that welcome remote workers into their premises.

At a court hearing in September 2020 a Forest of Dean resident James Awdry pleaded not guilty to offences relating to animal welfare. Today in Cheltenham Magistrates Court James Awdry changed his plea to guilty.

Local organisations secure £20 million Levelling Up Fund for the Forest of Dean

The Forest of Dean District Council, Hartpury University and College, and Cinderford Town Council have successfully secured £20 million from the Government’s Levelling Up Fund which will be used to improve leisure and community facilities, introduce new education opportunities, repurpose vacant buildings and grow the local economy across the Forest.
